The mosaic represents Orestes, naked except for a cloak on his shoulder and with is back turned facing his sister Iphigenia dressed in priestly clothes and holding a statuette is in front of him.
The scene depicts the fortuitous meeting between Orestes and Iphigenia near the temple of Artemis in Tauris, told by Euripides in the tragedy “Iphigenia in Tauris“.
Probably found in Rome. It is dated to the 1st century BC.
