Female Statue

Inv. Scu 949

Female figure, missing head and arms, depicted with its left leg brought forward in the act of walking.

It wears a peplos down to its feet, girded below the breasts by a belt. In the upper part, the drapery is rendered with wide, wavy folds, while in the lower part, the robe clings to the body, revealing the shape of the legs. It wears sandals.

The work, of slender proportions, can perhaps be identified with an acroterion statue, placed at the top of a temple pediment.

The statue dates to the 2nd century BC. It was probalby found in Rome.
