Oil on wood.
This is a refined copy, probably executed towards the end of XVI century, of a picture by the Emilian painter Antonio Allegri, called Correggio (1494-1534), who painted it about 1525-28.
It is now in the National Gallery of London. In the narration of the Passion (John 19, 4-6) Ecce Homo (Behold the Man) are the words uttered by Pilate while showing Christ to the Hebrew priests; before the Saviour is the afflicted figure of Mary.
