Inv. Scu 359
The double herm consists in two male heads, one bearded and one youthful.
Some details, such as the fins on the temples and below the ears, the seaweeds under the eyes, and the shell carved on the bust, lead to interpret the figures as marine deities. The hair and beard are treated in long, clinging locks, as though drenched.
The double herm, datable between the late 1st and the 2nd century AD, was purchased for the Capitoline Museum from the collection of cardinal Alessandro Albani in 1733.
