Bust of a man

Inv. Scu 814

Bust of a middle-aged man characterized by thick beard and moustache.

His straight and voluminous hair covers part of his forehead, while his elongated and deeply set eyes have carved irises and pupils. His mouth has thin, tightly closed lips.

The bust does not belong to the portrait: in fact, the finely draped tunic and the presence of the cloak are proper of a female bust.

The work is dated to the first half of the 3rd century AD.
