Inv. Scu 296
Female bust, cut off beneath the breasts. The youthful face shows several individual features, such as the rendering of the eyebrows, thick and horizontal, the large, wide open eyes, the full, closed lips and the strong chin.
The hair is styled according to the fashion of the time: central partition, soft waves that frame the face down to the ears and, on the back, a large bun of braids at the nape.
This is a hairstyle that imitates the fashion diffused with the so-called “sixth type” portrait of the Empress Faustina the Younger, created in AD 159.
The work was probably found in Rome.
